Introduction
Walking into a new training environment for the first time takes courage. Whether you’ve been exercising for years or you’re just getting started, showing up somewhere unfamiliar, with new equipment, new movements, and a room full of people who all seem to know what they’re doing, can feel daunting.
We know that. And we want to change it.
This guide exists to take the unknown out of your first session at TRIB3 Hyrox Training Club. By the time you finish reading it, you’ll know exactly what to expect before you arrive, during your session, and after you leave. No surprises. Just a great first experience.
Let’s get into it.
What Is TRIB3 Hyrox Training Club?
TRIB3 is an official HYROX Training Club, the first of its kind in Lisbon. We’re a structured, coached, community-led training space built around the world’s fastest-growing fitness race. HYROX combines 8km of running with 8 functional workout stations, repeated in sequence, and it’s designed to be accessible to everyone, from first-timers to elite athletes.
At TRIB3, we train for that format every day. Six different HYROX class types. Personal training, open gym access, and a full recovery zone with infrared sauna, cryotherapy and compression, and massage and vibration tools. All in one studio, in the heart of Lisbon, and all built around one idea: that you achieve more when you train together.
You don’t need to have run a HYROX race to train here. You don’t need any prior experience at all. You just need to show up.
Before Your First Session
Book in advance
All sessions at TRIB3 Lisbon must be booked in advance through the TRIB3 app. Download it, register your details, and secure your spot before you arrive. This ensures your place is guaranteed and allows us to prepare for your arrival.
Your intro offer — one session for €14.90 — is the perfect way to get started with no commitment attached.
Arrive 15 minutes early
This is important. Your first session is different to every other session you’ll have here, because it’s the only one where you walk in not knowing what to expect. Arriving 15 minutes before your class starts gives our coaches the time to welcome you properly, walk you through the studio, introduce you to the equipment, and answer any questions before the session begins.
If you arrive after the session has started, we won’t be able to let you in, not to be difficult, but because your safety and the integrity of the class both matter.
What to wear
Wear comfortable, close-fitting training kit that you can move freely in. Functional training involves a lot of dynamic movement – lunges, carries, sled work – so you want clothes that stay put. Bring a good pair of trainers with solid grip. For sled work in particular, traction matters.
What to bring
Water bottle – you will need it
A small towel
Trainers with good grip
A positive attitude – that’s the most important one
Your First Class. What to Expect.
The studio induction
When you arrive, one of our coaches will greet you and take you through a quick studio induction before the session begins. They’ll walk you through the space, explain the equipment, and give you a clear picture of what the session involves. Nothing will catch you off guard.
Start with HYROX Foundations
If it’s your first time, we strongly recommend booking a HYROX Foundations class. It’s specifically designed for people who are new to HYROX, focused on learning the movements correctly, safely, and with confidence. You’ll cover the key functional exercises that appear in every HYROX race: sled push and pull, SkiErg, rowing, wall balls, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and more.
Getting the technique right from the start isn’t just about safety, it’s what makes you faster and more efficient on race day. Foundations is where that starts.
The session itself
Every HYROX class at TRIB3 is led by a TRIB3 coach who guides you through the session from start to finish. Your coach will demonstrate movements, cue technique throughout, and offer modifications where needed. You set the pace. They support the process.
The class lasts 45 minutes and is structured around HYROX race movements, combining functional exercises with running or cardio intervals, depending on the class format. It’s hard work. It’s also completely scalable to your current level.
Your first time will be challenging, and that’s fine
We won’t pretend otherwise. HYROX training is intense. Your first session will feel unfamiliar and your body will work harder than it’s used to. That’s not a sign that you’re doing it wrong. That’s a sign that you’re doing it right.
Every TRIB3R in that room had a first session. Every one of them felt exactly what you’ll feel. They came back, and so will you.
After Your Session
Use the Recovery Zone
All class packs and membership include access to our Recovery Zone. After your first session, use it. The infrared sauna works directly on your muscle tissue, relaxing, restoring, and helping your nervous system settle after the effort. The cryotherapy and compression system reduces inflammation and flushes out what your muscles have accumulated. And the massage and vibration tools are there to release whatever tension remains. Use one. Use all three. Take your time. You’ve earned it.
Expect to feel it the next day
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness — commonly known as DOMS — is a normal part of starting a new training programme. Your body has worked muscles in ways it hasn’t been challenged before. The soreness typically peaks 24 to 48 hours after your session. It’s a good sign. It fades. And every session after this one will feel a little more familiar.
Book your next session
The most important thing you can do after your first session is book your second one. Consistency is how HYROX training works, for your fitness, your technique, and your sense of belonging in the community. Don’t wait until the soreness is gone. Book while the motivation is high.
Your Questions, Answered
Do I need to have run a HYROX race to train here?
Not at all. Many of our TRIB3Rs train here purely for the fitness and community, with no race on the horizon. That said, if you want to race, we’ll get you ready.
What if I’m not very fit?
HYROX training is designed for all fitness levels. Our coaches will always offer modifications and scale the session to where you are right now. Start with Foundations. Build from there.
Is there a minimum age?
You must be at least 16 years old to train at TRIB3 Lisbon.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it. Harder sessions are better with people who push alongside you. Check our intro offer, it’s the perfect way to get started together.
